Ever since we got the inquiry from Verena and Ian we had itchy feed and almost could not wait to photograph our first winter wedding.
Why was it our first one? Well, as many of you know we have not had winter for two years now, due to our trip around the world and so we could not do last year’s requests. Winter 2009 was our first year in the business and that obviously did not start with one of these rare weddings in January.
For those of you who are in the wedding business know, that you get hired for what you show in your portfolio, and if you never had a winter wedding, you might not be the first one who get asked to do it. So we were doubled lucky and thankful for the trust of Verena and Ian.
The weather forecast for Saturday was not too much promising. Southern Germany did not have any snow yet so our dream of a real winter wedding looked like it will only be a dream. Friday morning was nothing more than extremely windy and “horizontal” heavy rain.
But then, Saturday 21th January in the morning we looked out the window and we almost could not believe our eyes. Everything was white! Fresh, 10 cm white, beautiful snow. Here we go, just in time!
Verena and Ian, Swiss based lovely couple with Bavarian and Scottish roots, could not have wished for a more romantic atmosphere than this. We met them for the getting ready, which looked worm and cozy on the girls side and rather wet and cold on the guys front. But it was fun doing a little snow walk with Ian and his friends. It was snowing at this time very wet and but what you expect during a winter wedding? Snow right?
Isn’t Verena a beautiful bride? Looking at her face makes everyone automatically smile back too. The St. Patrick’s dress looked stunning, so did Ian’s morning coat. We totally fell in love with the laid back characters of both as well as the fantastic style.
Just in time for the little shooting we did, snow turned into rain. So how could we photograph them and make it look like snow? That’s because the soft wind made all the snow fell down from the trees. So just make them stand where it stills snows 🙂
Both, especially Verena, were really brave as you can imagine that it was kinda cold too. Right after the shooting, about 60 guests followed the ceremony in Gstadt. Very small church with an amazing view above Chiemsee (if there is a sight at all) but due to heavy rain we all went back to the hotel for congratulations and the reception.
They choose the very nice Hotel in Aiterbach/ Rimsting right at the wonderful Chiemsee. Really delicious food, friendly staff and very good service. Although we did not hear the band rocking the house, guests were already excited about them. However, here is the link.
We really felt very confortable and welcome at this wedding, we wish both of you guys all the best for the future and we would love to meet you someday again. Thank you!
